General Remarks

From the Airport to the Hotel

Moving Around Santiago

Our city has an efficient subway: Metro de Santiago. Although a bit crowded in the rush hours (7:30-9:00 AM, 6:00-8:00 PM) is the best -and safest- way to move around the city. If you are around Providencia or downtown, you just need to use line 1. Line 1 runs under Alameda -the main city avenue, from east to west- and Providencia (see map 2).

How to get to the meeting venue?

  • We strongly recomend using the subyway system (Metro de Santiago).
  • Most of the participants will stay at Hotel Grand Palace in Santiago Downtown. From there to the venue, you can take the a taxi (about $5000 = US$10) or the Subway.
  • If you take the subway, see Map 2:
    • walk to Alameda and take Line 1 in station Moneda to the west.
    • Leave in next Station (Los Heroes)
    • Take line 2 to the south
    • Leave in next station: Toesca
    • Walk to FCFM, enter by Blanco Encalada 2002

Meeting Venue

The First ACCION meeting will be host by the Department of Geophysics (DGF), Universidad de Chile, located near downtown in Santiago, Chile. We will use a meeting room at the 1th floor of the Geology Department building (room G108). We also have two smaller meeting rooms for the breakout gropus at the DGF building.

Our Department is part if the Facultad de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas (FCFM), one of ten University Campuses. The FCFM
devoted to the formation of engineers and scientist (Geophyics and Geologist, among others) with a strong background in basic sciences as well as knowledge in applied sciences and technologies.

Because during February the University is in receses there will be almost no students and professors, as well as minimum staff.

Map 3 shows where the meeting will be held along with other key points.

The venue, DGF-UChile, has a fast, free, completely open Wireless Internet access. Just let your laptop to find the stongest signal and connect (DGF-Met or DGF-TS).
